5. Possible applications:
The below-mentioned chemical composition enables the use of technical aluminium oxide moreover for treatment of steel and refining slag.
The presence of of Al2O3 implies increasing of flowability of slag, which positively affects their desulphurisation ability.
Metallurgical characteristics of ALCATEN are fully comparable with fluorspar (CaF2), which was used until now. The important advantage of ALCATEN is the fact that no compounds that could deteriorate the working and living environment are released when it comes into contact with fluid metal or with flow slag. When using fluorspar, ecologically unhealthy fluorides are released.
The presence of metal aluminium has a positive impact on decreasing of the oxidizing potential of refining slag, which enables increasing of the level of desulphurisation steel in the process. Alcaten has minimal contents of easily reducible oxides, especially Fe2O3, MnO and FeO.
The presence of CaO, MgO, and Al2O3 forms ca. 75%, which has a positive effect on the lifetime of lining of basically lined casting pots, especially during the steel processing in a slag ladle furnace. Specific consumption of ALCATEN is comparable with fluorspar and it varies depending on qualitative requirements on steel, within the limits 2 - 4 kg.t-1.
The mentioned physical-chemical parameters of ALCATEN predestine it also for further application in black metallurgy.

The annealing loss is associated primarily with a decrease in CO2, which is fixed as a result of CaO being used as a binder.

ALCATEN is produced in the form of ball-shaped pellets in order to minimize dust nuisance during its application and also easy manipulation during the dosing.
